Dóra Kristín Halldórsdóttir

Icelandic artist

Dóra Kristín was born and grew up in Reykjavík, where she lives now. Following preliminary studies in the Artschool Myndsýn in Reykjavík she started her studies at the Icelandic School of Art and Crafts (Myndlista og handíðaskóli Íslands) in 1971, where she finished two years of preliminary studies and one year of ceramic art. Dóra Kristín applied for entering the School of Arts and Crafts (Kunst og Handverkskolen) in Oslo, Norway the year 1974, where she joined but didn’t use that opportunity. Instead of that she became a farmer and worked as such the years 1974-1988. The year 1980 Dóra Kristín started studies again at the Icelandic School of Art and Crafts and graduated 1982 as a teacher of visual arts. After that she taught visual arts at compulsory schools in Selfoss until 2004. Dóra Kristín has since then focused on visual arts first in Selfoss and then in Reykjavik where she lives now and advances as an artist.
